Ben & Lyssa planned their wedding for a Fall weekend at the historic Thumb Octagon Barn in Gagetown. Little did they know it would be one of the hottest temps ever recorded in Michigan for September 23rd, reaching over 90 degrees! The guys were prepared with coolers full of bottled water to share with guests as they entered the venue. Meanwhile, the girls made their way from the salon to the ceremony on a bus with no a/c and all the windows down! While that may not sound like fun, the ladies arrived with smiles & laughter and ready to begin the festivities! After a beautiful ceremony complete with some of the most adorable flower girls you've ever seen, everyone joined the happy couple at the Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw to celebrate their marriage. Read on to see the highlights from this lovely couple's wedding day!
WOW- you guys, aren't they a gorgeous couple??! I was in love with so many details about this day. After their ceremony & photos at the Octagon Barn we headed to the Horizons Center in Saginaw for a beautiful reception and lots of dancing! But most touching was the dance Lyssa shared with her 5 brothers in honor of her beloved father. When I caught a glimpse of a tear on her cheek I felt my eyes welling up. (And again now as I write this blog post... Lyssa I'm so sorry you weren't able to share this day with him but I know he would be so proud of the way your brothers enveloped you in support. You are so loved!)
Unfortunately one of the layers of cake didn't quite make it, and as the guests begin to show concern for the leaning tower one of the ladies was brave enough to come to the rescue. As the bride & groom came to cut the cake they approached with laughter as they saw its state of disassembly. What great sports they are! And I'm sure it was just as delicious as ever (that's all that matters, right?)!
All married couples on the dance floor, to see who had been married the longest. The winning couple was so sweet and told the bride & groom that the secret to a long marriage is to never, never, never, ever give up.
She was not allowed to sit in the chair; instead, the groomsmen had to make her one! And they didn't let the groom use his hands, either!
Ben & Lyssa, it was such an honor to be a part of your wedding day and to capture these moments of love & laughter that I know are going to continue for many years to come! You are so blessed to have each other and to have all of these amazing family members around you!
