When Nichole shared her wedding plans with me she laughed a little as she explained that her backyard wedding would be held in her grandfather's construction yard, complete with two dump trucks and a backhoe. She went on to tell me about their plans to decorate with giant paper flowers (which turned out beautifully!) and to set up a white tent, a dance floor, and bonfire seating. I LOVED that her day would be so personal & unique, and it really struck a chord with me when she said wanted her reception to be a backyard BBQ & bonfire because these gatherings "feel like home". I was so intrigued and couldn't wait to see this day unfold! Because she had moved to Texas where they now live, she planned this wedding from out-of-state and came back to her hometown of Oxford, Michigan with just 5 weeks to finish the details. Check out how great it turned out, with the gorgeous centerpieces and amazing reclaimed pallet benches. And be sure to read till the end to see a special photo with her grandfather as well as some after-dark sparkler fun!
Nichole asked me to take a photo of her & her grandfather in front of the backhoe, which was special to her because she had fond childhood memories of all the times she rode along with him!
As the sun was setting and guests were dancing, the bride went inside to change into some comfy bonfire clothes. When there was trouble getting the fire started so she willingly sacrificed some of the giant paper flowers she had worked so hard to make! I'm sure she didn't realize while constructing them that they would also serve this purpose!
We waited for the sun to finish setting so the guests could light up their sparklers! Such a fun time!
Ryan & Nichole, you guys are SO GREAT together! Congrats on officially tying the knot! I wish you and your family all the best; I know you're going to have plenty of fun together and make tons of great memories in Texas! Thank you for letting me be a part of your wedding day!
