What happens when you combine a magnificently renovated historical building + a vision of elegant art deco & mixed metallics + a group of insanely talented wedding vendors? You're about to find out! This editorial shoot was a dream... I'll tell you all about it as you view the jaw-dropping details below. Don't forget to check out the links to each of these skillful vendors at the end as well as some behind-the-scenes coverage of our styled shoot AND an amazing recap video!
Welcome to The Holly Vault! A unique venue named after it's origins as a circa 1860's bank, this historical building was renovated by HGTV's Cari Cucksey. As a huge fan of the "Cash and Cari" show I have dreamed of photographing an event in this remarkable venue! Cari (Owner & Operator) and Emily (Event Manager) do an amazing job hosting events such as weddings, dinners, showers, parties, and meetings. You're about to see some of the character of the different spaces available in this incredible building, starting with the vault door located behind the bar!
Moving on to the reception hall you'll see a collection of mixed metallic table settings designed by Lynsey of Pixie Dust Events, our lead planner for this shoot, and beautifully coordinating gold chiavari chairs, grey table linens, and blush satin chair sashes from none other than Special Occasions East. I'm in love, but I'll let the photos speak for themselves!
The silver rock candy was also a beautiful touch added by our planner & designer Lynsey, and these marble hexagon tiles with custom calligraphy by Gabby H Photo really made the place cards something special! The deckled edge menus were designed by Liz at Jade Social, as well as the romantic invitation suite that you'll see shortly!
The warm ambiance in this room is so inviting, and the floral arrangements by Liz at LPF Blooms make me want to LIVE inside this photo! She created the centerpieces, boutonniere, and bouquets that graced our entire production. Her floral designs are first-class.
Whoa, right? So much beauty in one place!! Let me introduce you to some more of our amazing team. Our lovely "couple", Caleb & Grace, and bridesmaids Michelle and Paige, were very enjoyable to work with and did such a great job in front of the camera. Although they'd never met before this day, their smiles and interactions made it easy! (And NO, we didn't have the bride & groom kiss!)
This gorgeous group is wearing gowns from The White Dress; a chic bridal boutique in Brighton, MI. The owner, Kristy, is extremely helpful and friendly and truly an expert at helping you find THE DRESS. We were beyond thrilled with this flowy, romantic wedding gown and the metallic art deco designs on these coordinating bridesmaids dresses were the perfect fit for this theme!
While these ladies are without a doubt natural beauties, we brought in Kellie & Joelia from Bridal Beauty Couture to style their hair & makeup to perfection. Kellie has a team of traveling hair & makeup artists who provide beauty services for clients all over southeast Michigan and the surrounding areas, as well as a newly opened studio in Royal Oak. The results took our breath away!
Now wait until you feast your eyes on this dream dessert table! This heavenly array of delectable sweets was one of the most epic culminations of our mixed metallic art deco theme, right down to every last drop of sugar. The intricately designed wedding cake was created by Lana at LW Cake Design, and it was perfection!
You'll also see a mouth-watering assortment of treats made by Erin at Bella e Dolce, including cake truffles, metallic chocolate gems, and the most tasty chocolate ganache macarons! (Yes, I totally tried one...after I was finished taking photos of course!)
And if your sweet tooth still isn't satisfied, we've got you covered! These geometric frosted marble sugar cookies with metallic gold accents are by Diane at Finely Frosted, and they taste as fabulous as they look!
I also love the thought that our wedding planner Lynsey puts into the little details. Check out the bling on these candy dishes! She also created the guest table favors- gummies inside a diamond by Pixie Dust Sweet Shop!
No reception is complete without a head table, and this one knocked it out of the park!
Time to take this party outside! Downtown Holly is a charming town, made even more so by this bride in her gown! What a beautiful day!
It was such an honor to work with this group of talented people, and I could not recommend each of them enough! If you know of someone looking for creative services for their event please share this link and mention the talent you've seen featured on this blog! They deserve a huge round of applause and I would love to work with each of them again in the future! Now as promised, scroll down for a few behind-the-scenes photos and an amazing recap video!
