It was such an honor to meet Claire's family and work with this beautiful young lady. I can't even begin to imagine the challenges they faced over this past year as she was diagnosed with and treated for cancer. But seeing someone who has overcome such a struggle to now be so full of JOY & LIFE was a huge inspiration to me. It's clear that she's a SURVIVOR in every way!
I'd love to share this quote from Claire with you:
I've had the pleasure of photographing two senior portrait sessions with Aubrey, and she's a dream to work with. Our first session was at the beautiful DOW Gardens in Midland, Michigan as she posed for some outdoor portraits while I taught an intermediate photography workshop to a small group of students. She did a fabulous job and has such a calm & relaxed presence in front of the camera. I was excited to have her come down to Oxford, MI for a second session at my home studio, barn, and property. I'm not sure she believes me when I tell her she's model material, but check out these senior pictures from both sessions and you'll see what I'm talking about!
This beautiful lady is a real-life ballerina and also loves old Hollywood glam, so you can imagine my excitement when we got together to create these senior photos! If you're into fashion you're going to enjoy this post, because this senior has style! She started with this ballet-inspired tulle dress with a blush pink sequins top and perfectly matched metallic pink heels. Later we swapped the heels out for her ballet pointe shoes. After the wardrobe change she came back into the studio wearing a black off-the-shoulder boat neck top, some awesome black & white Van's sneakers, and full red lips! As you scroll below you'll see the fun we had!
I met Ally while photographing the wedding of one of her family members and was so inspired when I took a photograph of her singing in the loft of the Octagon Barn that I couldn't wait to show her! (I've included that pic at the bottom). She contacted me after the wedding and we set up a winter senior photo session. What a day it turned out to be! The forecast was calling for freezing rain all morning, and then a Winter Storm Warning was in effect for the evening. We decided to chance it... and it turned out to be the perfect amount of snow with a nice break in the weather! We still had to deal with freezing temps and some harsh wind, but it worked out perfectly to do part of the session indoors first and then brave the cold. Totally worth it! I enjoyed these two sessions so much! Paul & Katie were so nice to work with and we lucked out to have sunny, 50-degree weather on both days despite it being the first week of December. Not bad, Michigan! Katie & I went to High Point Farm in Oxford, MI where she keeps & trains her horse Java. He's a beauty! The sunset was also beautiful and I absolutely love these photos of Katie! We met again a few days later, this time to do her twin brother's session at the barn on my property. I LOVE the warm light that comes from shooting inside my barn surrounded by rustic wood, and Paul is a handsome gentleman! Read on to see more from their sessions!
It was such an honor to meet Makayla & her mom for this senior photo session at George George Memorial Park in Clinton Township, and just in time to catch the last of the fall weekends before the freezing temps set in! Makayla is a natural beauty but I was most impressed with her sweet spirit and her heart when she told me she would like to pursue pediatric nursing and work with children battling cancer. I'm sure her family is very proud, and I'm happy to have gotten to know this girl! Here are some of my favorite photographs from the day- which I had a very hard time narrowing down! I really enjoyed meeting Tyler for this senior photo session and hanging out in downtown Oxford! It was fun to combine the natural fall foliage around my own property with the urban textures of brick and concrete downtown. Loved it! Here are a few of my favorites from our session:
I can't believe that this beautiful girl that I knew so many years ago is now finishing up her senior year! I know that her family is very proud of her, but what a bittersweet moment! Her mom is going to miss her like crazy I'm sure! This was such a fun session because Dakotah wanted to include Spooky, her favorite cat, in her senior pictures. Spooky is an indoor cat but she did just fine on our adventure in the park! She even wore an orange sweater for the fall weather! Read on to see some of my favorite shots from this senior's photo session!
I was so excited when Rachel talked to me about doing her senior photos. I could see that she was looking for natural, outdoor, beautifully simple pictures and it suited her so well because she's a natural beauty, and was so sweet to work with. I don't think she even KNOWS how STUNNING she is! But the best part is knowing that her heart follows the Lord and I know He has great plans for this young lady!
