Once in a while it's fun to dress up and get your glam on! I was delighted to spend a day with Britny, this beautiful woman who is an amazing mom of six, wife to a hard working farmer, and someone who is dedicated to her family, the Lord, and her work helping to bring health to others as a Plexus Ambassador. We had some great laughs together in the studio and I'm so excited to share these photos with you!
Here at Awakened Light Photography I'm launching a Women's Beauty Portrait Series, where you (and your mom, daughter, sister, or best friend!) can come to my home studio & showroom for a free consultation & wardrobe planning, and then book your own makeover & portrait session with a professional hair & makeup artist! When it's complete you can come back to the showroom to view your photos on matted prints & choose your favorites for purchase! I'm running a special introductory rate of $99 for this session that includes hair & makeup for TWO, a 2-hour overlapping portrait session, and a free matted print for each of you (*with your individual purchase order) and has a total value of $620! Contact me to book your consultation by emailing here & mention the $99 Beauty Portrait Special!
Now keep scrolling and check out Britny's beautiful photo session, including some behind-the-scenes shots! (And before you ask, no... she hasn't modeled before! But she did amazing & YOU could do this too!)
I've had the pleasure of photographing two senior portrait sessions with Aubrey, and she's a dream to work with. Our first session was at the beautiful DOW Gardens in Midland, Michigan as she posed for some outdoor portraits while I taught an intermediate photography workshop to a small group of students. She did a fabulous job and has such a calm & relaxed presence in front of the camera. I was excited to have her come down to Oxford, MI for a second session at my home studio, barn, and property. I'm not sure she believes me when I tell her she's model material, but check out these senior pictures from both sessions and you'll see what I'm talking about!
I can't get enough of these photos! This lovely couple is getting married next year and it was so fun to spend an evening with them on a beautiful summer day. I loved the dress Megan chose, and the sparkle of that diamond on her tiny size 3 finger! Check out the fun variety of photos from their engagement session below!
This beautiful couple is eager to meet their baby girl in a few weeks, and I'm so excited to see them become parents! Mickey & Kaylee have hearts of patience, wisdom, and teaching, and I know their hearts are going to explode with unconditional love the moment they hold baby Elora! Here are some of my favorite photos from their summer maternity session!
This beautiful lady is a real-life ballerina and also loves old Hollywood glam, so you can imagine my excitement when we got together to create these senior photos! If you're into fashion you're going to enjoy this post, because this senior has style! She started with this ballet-inspired tulle dress with a blush pink sequins top and perfectly matched metallic pink heels. Later we swapped the heels out for her ballet pointe shoes. After the wardrobe change she came back into the studio wearing a black off-the-shoulder boat neck top, some awesome black & white Van's sneakers, and full red lips! As you scroll below you'll see the fun we had!
The Belle Isle Boat House was the most AMAZING backdrop for this editorial shoot, and I couldn't be happier to see this historic venue coming back to life! Built in 1839 it was known as the Detroit Boat Club, but 100 years later had fallen into disrepair. Now it is being revived and word is getting out! With it's beautiful Spanish architecture, true vintage character, and views of the MacArthur Bridge on the Detroit River it's an ideal location for weddings & events looking for a venue that is full of unique charm and history! You are viewing Part 2- the dreamy bridal portrait shoot! (To view Part 1- the event details- please click here.)

I was excited when Todd & Amy chose to shoot their Engagement Session at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Twp! It's a place that they've both enjoyed visiting for many years, and also happens to have a number of beautiful and unique locations. Check out this adorable couple and their featured photos below! I especially loved the romantic field of flowers at the end!
This couple has grown very dear to my heart as I've gotten to know them & their lovely sets of parents! Their story is adorable and consists of coffee shops, friendship, Disney movies, and what felt like a long wait before officially dating. Josh came to our church in Michigan as an intern and had made a commitment to spend the year focusing on the work God had laid before him. But God was about to bring something special into his life as well, and it was a beautiful thing to watch their relationship blossom. What a joyous celebration their engagement and wedding day has been! Keep scrolling to see their wedding day unfold, on what was supposed to be a very rainy day in the end of May! (Spoiler Alert: not a single drop of rain that I can remember!)
I know we're all eager for spring to arrive here in Michigan, but this couple is most eager & with good reason! (And it's not weather-related!) Their baby girl is due to arrive shortly after Easter! I am so excited for Bethany & John, and loved seeing the joyful glow radiating from this beautiful mother-to-be!
